At this point in time there is a lot of uncertainty due to covid-19. The Directors of Southside Fringe are taking this incredibly seriously. However, we are still just under 2 months away from our festival taking place.
This has been talked about in great length and at this point we think it’s unnecessary to cancel the festival as a whole. However, this will be reviewed on a daily basis. We are unsure what life will be like in May but if we can continue with the festival we will make sure that it’s a brilliant one! We may have to reduce the number of physical programmes but all events and the programme will be promoted on social media and on our website.
We are currently communicating with funders about our launch event, Southside Fiesta, to determine the best way forward. We do not want to put anyone at risk in encouraging a large gathering and will follow advice. We are gutted about this as a lot of work goes into putting this on but the safety of our team, volunteers and the public is what comes first at times like this.
Most of the Southside Fringe registered venues are less than 100 capacity. We're committed to our registered venues and event producers through what could be difficult times. We're encouraging all to shop and spend locally and would just ask that you take the necessary precautions. Please ensure that you take necessary precautions and if you are experiencing symptoms then please don’t attend events.
We hope that May will bring lots of great times and that the world will be back to some kind of normality! Please keep an eye on our social media and website for further updates.
Big Southside Love (and don’t forget to wash your hands!)
