


Southside Fringe wouldn't be here, were it not for the unique, quirky, resilient and awesome venues on the Southside of Glasgow. As a celebration of all things Southside we want to get y'all walking around the Southside and celebrating the ace independent businesses hosting our events.

4. The Glad Cafe

A community built on creativity, hospitality, and culture with a social conscience. From April 6th The Glad Cafe is now 100% vegan. Not only serving up great food, the Glad Cafe has a fantastic selection of live music in this year's programme.
1. Shawlands Civic Square

The square outside Langside Halls has proven to be a fantastic civic space for Southsiders. The venue for our own outdoor launch in 2019. MyShawlands will be bringing the square alive with inflatable fun on the 14th of May!

2. Park Lane

Home of the well loved. regular Southside feature 'Park Lane Market'. A hidden Southside treasure where you'll find funky wall murals a warm welcome and a fantastic selection of makers and local food producers every first and last Sunday of the month 11am-4pm

3. Glad Rags Thrift
1006 Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow G41 2HG
Glad Rags Thrift is a not-for-profit cooperative, focusing on diverting unwanted clothes from landfill and providing affordable, amazing quality clothes to the local community. All profit goes to our charity The Glad Foundation who provides free and affordable music workshops for everyone, no matter background or ability.








8. Art Space G41
124 Kilmarnock Road, Glasgow G41 3NN
Art Space G41 CIC was established to provide a space in Shawlands where artists and other individuals can teach and connect with the local community. Running a range of pottery and craft workshops, Art Space G41 also focus on improving mental health through the arts.
5. The Shed
26 Langside Avenue, Shawlands, G41 2QS
Well loved as the party central nightclub on the Southside. With fantastic theme nights, regular and guest DJ's. The Shed is also home to Arts Enigma, a Southside Theatre company. You'll find these high quality theatre productions in this year's programme
7. Fringe HQ
Shawlands Shopping Centre, G41 3NN
Home to the annual Southside Fringe Festival, Fringe HQ has been an amazing space for small events, meetings and workshops. Now entering a new phase we'll be working with Art Space G41 to provide retail space for local makers, Fringe Merch and coffees. Watch our socials for announcements.
6. Phillies

An independent neighbourhood bar that champions the local community. Passionate about paying a real Living Wage and playing vinyl records. With a vintage fair and a record fair over the opening weekend of the festival and some geat events...and fantastic food! You can't go wrong with a visit to this ace Southside bar.






11. REMADE in Govanhill
421 Victoria Rd, Govanhill, G42 8RW
Remade In Govanhill is a repair and reuse social enterprise. We opened in April, 2021 to bring our "Repair Stop" affordable repair service and "Tech Drop" technology reuse and recycling waste solution to Victoria Rd. Bring your textiles, tech devices and home electronics in for repair, or your unwanted electronics in to recycle. 421 Victoria Rd: Open 12-4pm Wednesday-Sunday.


12. Bees Knees Cafe

Bee's Knees Cafe is a unique artful place in the buzzing Southside. Come coorie in, delight the palate, make beautiful connections, contemplate life... With a great menu, they're also getting on the map for some lovely bespoke and regular events.
9. Shawlands Arcade

A Southside Landmark on the cusp of transformation. Home to Southside Fringe & Art Space G41. The Arcade will also be playing host to makers over the market weekends of the festival (14/15 & 21/22). Want to have your say about the new developments? There will also be a rep from the developers the weekend of the 14th May.
10. McNeills Bar 106 Torrisdale Street, Govanhill, G42 8RE
Warm friendly bar with great service (depending on who is working).Record night on Wed, bring and play your own Vinyl, Open mic session on Thursdays from 9pm and live music or DJ acts 9pm on Friday and Saturday. Guitaraoka 4pm till 8pm, Quiz 9pm on Sunday,

15. Icebox Arts & Music Centre
2 St Lukes Business Estate, Gorbals, G5 0TS
The Ice Box isn't just a venue! It's one of Glasgow's biggest pre-loved and vintage stores. All proceeds from sales go toward supporting the grassroots arts scene. With some crazy collectables and top vintage fashions, they hold auctions online and there's always a warm welcome if you pop into the shop. They also run a pet food bank and books for bairns project. Donations always welcome.

16. Pearce Institute

This Iconic building is an asset to Govan. Housing some great projects and a great performance space. Easy to reach, just across the road from Govan Underground and bus station. Affectionately known as the PI, has been at the heart of the Govan community since 1906. The PI is home to a wide range of community groups and social economy organisations sharing the common aim of meeting the needs of the people of Govan.
13. The Wee Retreat
2 Myrtle Park, Crosshill, G42 8UQ
The Wee Retreat is a meditation and wellbeing centre in Southside Glasgow. Offering mindfulness meditation courses, retreats and other wellbeing events to increase personal awareness and a sense of peace. A chance to escape the busyness of your everyday life and take some time to focus on your own wellbeing. TWR is also co-host to the first ever Southside Wellbeing Festival
14. The Cooperage 674 Pollokshaws Road, Strathbungo, G41 2QE
The Cooperage is another hidden Southside secret. A creative retail hub based in Glasgow's Southside. Built in a renovated whisky barrel factory, The Cooperage and its courtyard has independent shops, studios and food. Their Fringe Fair on the 14th May will feature kids art classes, live mural painting, DJ, stalls and vegan bbq from our resident shops & studios; Rudan, Seamster Vintage, Vivi's Deli, 1 of 100 and Sun & Moon Tattoos. Go find them down the lane!






19. Kenmure Street

This pop up location has joined us in this year's festival to celebrate the legacy of solidarity shown by the communities of Pollokshields and beyond, on May 13th 2021, standing together against the Home Office. This was a powerful Southside community response to the inhumane treatment of refugees and asylum seekers. The Pollokshields Trust and Govanhill Baths Community Trust bring you the Kenmure Street Festival of Resistance.

17. Finn's Place

Finn's Place offers opportunities to improve and enhance personal wellbeing and also a safe space for difficult times. The project takes its name from Finn – a cat who was beaten and left for dead but who has since been rescued and found a safe home. With love, care and a supportive environment enables all of us to grow, make friendships and tackle isolation and stress. Co-hosts of the first Southside Wellbeing Festival

Friendly local bar and pool hall with live entertainment and sport. And proud participants of the Glasgow Best Bar None scheme. They always focus on making their pub unique So pull up a seat, take a tour round the pub and discover what sets them apart from the rest. Home to their open mic, hosted by Samuel Logan.
