We passionately believe in the arts; everything that has a creative edge is of interest to us and we want to share that interest with everyone, whether they live on the Southside of Glasgow or not. We aim to promote the creative community and its ever-growing talent, providing entertainment for the diverse community in a range of fabulous Southside venues.
For the past four years the Southside of Glasgow has hosted an annual Southside Festival held in the Glasshouses and Queens Park Recreational Grounds in the last weekend of May. This festival has proven to be a great success with families, boasting attendance in excess of 20,000 people. But we feel that the massive range of arts represented in the Southside deserve their own, dedicated event; the Southside Fringe. We aim to provide an experience that will include a wide and diverse range of entertainment that the Southside creative community cannot wait to share. By staging our own events and encouraging events and venues across the Southside to participate, the Southside Fringe is shaping up to be the event to highlight on your calendar.
Yet we’re not just about providing quality paid opportunities for acts, performers and musicians. We really want to actively include all demographics of the area and participate in the community and economic regeneration of the Southside. By involving as many venues, businesses and organizations as possible, we can raise the profile of the Southside and its arts landscape, drawing new customers and audiences to the wonderful facilities the Southside has to offer. Not only that, but we are working in partnership with ‘Public-I Events and Media’ to develop models for creative collective festivals which will be pivotal in national ventures, including ‘Strength In Numbers’ (SIN) to be launched in 2014.
So do it, right now, highlight it on your calendar. Southside Fringe, May 2014. Whether you’re an artist, an arts lover or just someone who wants to have fun and be part of an amazing venture, then the Southside Fringe is for you.
The Southside Fringe will be held from the 9th til the 25th of May 2014.
Fringe HQ will be open from February 14th 2014 at our new location: 1092 Pollokshaws Road, Shawlands, Glasgow G41 3XA
